This matryoshka (nestling doll) was made in Sergiev Posad. It is made out of wood and includes four dolls (five on the whole). Each doll features a pink-cheeked, red-haired maiden with wide opened blue eyes. The girl is dressed in the blue costume including a blue dress, a blue kerchief richly decorated with white lace and beautiful ornamentation in the form of blue berries surrounded with white foliage, a beautiful kokoshnik (ancient Russian head-dress) painted in copper-golden paints, and an apron decorated in the style of Zhostovo Art School. The Zhostovo Art School is famous for its original production: wooden spoons and metal trays. These items are decorated with bright multicolored flowers painted against the black background. The same painting technique is repeated on the doll's apron. The work isn't signed by the artist.
