This portrait of a little girl was created by Fedoskino artist Zolotaryova G. The portrait arouses only positive emotions and admiration by delicacy, beauty, innocence and sincerity of the little child. The girl gracefully turned her little head and looks meditatively at the viewer with her big beautiful eyes. She looks like a heroine of some kind fairy-tale that in any case will have a happy end.
The image of the girl is painted against the brown background with tints of olive. The contrast of dark background and portrait reproduced in light tones allows the girl to be the sole focus of attention. The girl's face is clearly and sensitively painted. Her features are calm and serene, and her brown eyes are pensive. Zolotaryova does a nice job blending brushstrokes on the girl's skin so it has a soft appearance. There is extensive detail in the curling locks of her hair. This is what Fedoskino realism is all about. This also goes for her peach toned ribbon that crinkles and curls behind her. Truthfully, the eyes have it all. There is a unique gloss within them that is very difficult to produce no matter how much talent the artist possesses.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while dark red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The box has a hinge to the left of the scene and rests on a flat bottom. The Fedoskino factory stamp is under the lid. The box is signed with the artist's name, village and year (1997).
