This dramatic winter landscape has been painted by Dunaev from the village of Fedoskino. The small white stone cathedral rises above the snow covered ground. The sunset paints the dark evening sky with a warm golden glow. The gradation of different colors and tints in the sky is successfully achieved with the help of mother-of-pearl. The most laborious work has been done here while painting the century-old big trees. They look strikingly realistic!
The exterior of the box is covered with original ornamentation composed of blurry brown, yellow, light and dark blue spots that tone with the coloring of the scene. The interior of the box is traditionally red.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the village of Fedoskino, and the year of 2005.
