This winter landscape is painted by the expert of this genre Dunaev from the village of Fedoskino. Gray-greenish tones predominate here. Mother-of-pearl is inlaid in the portion of the sky to create brilliance of the sun.
Intricate gold ornamentation decorates the edges of the lid, and the box's sides. The exterior of the box is covered with blue, light gray and silver blurry spots. This is so called "dust resist patterns" that imitate the coloring of a marble. The interior of the box is traditionally red.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the left of the composition. The box rests upon a small platform. The work is signed and dated (2005) by the artist.
