This brilliant work was made by Dokuchev Yegeniy in the village of Fedoskino. It features the girl buying vegetable and fruits in the market at night. The scene is painted in the realistic style, and it is notable for depiction of people and various vegetable and fruits alight by scanty light of burning candles. This stunning visual effect is very difficult to produce.
The areas of the scene not alight by candles are painted in dark brown tones, whereas the areas alight by candles are drawn in different shades of orange.
The scene is framed with a gold line. Two parallel lines wrap around the box's sides.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. It has a hinge from the left of the composition and rests on four legs. The box is signed by the artist, but hardly to read.
