This beautiful summer landscape has been painted by the master of this genre, Dunaev from the village of Fedoskino. It is notable for a beautiful color palette based on harmonious combinations of green and brown tones. Mother-of-pearl creates the reflection of the sky on the water, and enlivens the scene.
The scene is framed with a gold line. The edges of the lid are decorated with elegant gold patterns. The same patterns wrap around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the top of the composition. The box rests on a small platform. It is signed and dated (2006) by the artist at the bottom of the composition in white oil paints.
