This attractive Fedoskino box features the Snowmaiden walking in the winter forest accompanied with the animals. Gold metal leaf shines through the girl's coat and kokoshnik. The landscape is painted over aluminum powder which helps to create the shine of snow.
The exterior of the box is covered with bright blue paint mixed with aluminum powder. The interior is covered with red lacquer mixed with gold dust. The sides of the lid are decorated with tiny round shapes cut out of lustrous silver metal leaf. It is so called "scan patten".
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the left of the composition. The box rests upon a flat bottom. The work isn't signed by the artist.
