The well-known Fedoskino landscape painter Vladimir Serdotetskov created this peaceful winter scene. Here the artist has chosen to depict everyday life of the modern Russian village. The villagers ski or just walk along the street relaxing after a workweek.
The scene is painted in various shades of blue oils suitable for reproduction of snowy expanses of the Russian countryside; the exception is light pinkish tones that help to paint the sunset glow. Silver powder highlights the windows of the peasant housed drawn in the foreground.
The scene is framed with a gold line.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box has a hinge above the scene, and rests on four legs. Signed with the name of the artist, Fedoskino, and the year of 2005.
