This peaceful summer landscape has been painted by Prokhorenko from the village of Fedoskino. The twisting, unpaved road runs along the picturesque Russian countryside, and disappears behind the hill.
The scene is masterfully painted in the realistic style using blue, green and brown tones of oils. A piece of mother-of-pearl is set into the puddle depicted in the foreground to create its brilliance. A nice gold pattern is used to decorate the edges of the lid, and the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name and the village of Fedoskino.
