This extremely lifelike portrait of a woman who has just woken up is masterly executed by a well-established Fedoskino artist Irina Butsinskaya. The woman's bulldog and her cat have come into the bedroom to say "good morning" to their mistress.
Butsinskaya's works are exquisite and can be distinguished by their color treatment, fine brush mastery, interesting subjects, and by the graceful execution of her compositions. Her teachers were such prominent masters as S.P. Rogatov and G.I. Larishchev. Creative works of such great artist as Andrey Rublev (outstanding Russian icon-painter), Boskh, Van Gogh, Polenov, Livitsky influenced Butsinskaya's individual style of painting.
The portrait is framed with a thin gold line. Two parallel gold lines wrap around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the portrait, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name and the village of Fedoskino.
