This handsome piece of authentic Russian artistry was created by Bebikhov of Fedoskino. The sunset in the winter forest is beautifully reproduced here. A truly fascinating example of landscape composition.
The palette of the piece is very beautiful. Various shades of blue oils are used to paint the snow-covered areas, while the sunset is drawn in yellow and orange tones. This color contrast looks astonishing.
The scene is framed with a gold line, two parallel gold lines wrap around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title (“Sunset”), and the year of 2007.
