Description:

This "Mucha style" composition has been painted by Tatyana Skripunova.
"Mucha style" is also known as the Art Nouveau style invented by Alphonse Mucha (1860 -1939), a Czech Art Nouveau painter and decorative artist. This style is characterized by twisting and swirling flower motifs. Mucha's works frequently featured beautiful healthy young women in flowing vaguely Neoclassical looking robes, often surrounded by lush flowers which sometimes formed haloes behind the women's heads.
This box depicts Flora - the Roman goddess of flowers and the season of spring. She is a bright nature goddess who symbolizes rebirth, the sweetness of new life, both physical and spiritual. She inspires us to surround ourselves with flowers, breathe in their fragrance, and begin something new!
The box's exterior is decorated with silver scan patterns (made of tiny beads hand punched from silver metal sheets, and then glued to the box manually).
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the left of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the village of Fedoskino, and the year of 2008.
