Description:

This sentimental portrait of a little girl has been painted by Marina Chikvasova from the village of Fedoskino. It is an interpretation of a canvas-on-oil painting originally painted in the 1890s by Ivan Makarov (1822 - 1897). This masterpiece is called “The Head of a Girl”, and currently hangs in the Moscow Tretyakov Gallery.
The portrait is framed with a gold line; two parallel gold lines decorate the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the portrait, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
