This interesting work has been created by Dmitry Tipyakov. Each of his boxes is a unique, original creation as he always invents the themes for his works by himself. The box continues the artist's "space theme", and shows a humorous scene. A peasant sits on the bench and looks meditatively at the picture that depicts the outer space. The title of this work is “Through Hardship to the Stars”; the work reflects the artist's philosophic thoughts on the theme of correlation between the Earth and space.
To paint this scene Tipyakov has used various tones of blue oil paints. The scene is framed with a gold line; the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title and the year of 2008.
