Description:

This beautiful box has been painted by talented Fedoskino artist, Mikhail Tugarinov who specializes in depicting architecture scenes. The piece continues his series of works dedicated the picturesque views of St.-Petersburg, Moscow and Suzdal.
On this composition the artist has painted the Cathedral of the Resurrection or more commonly known as the Our Savior on the Spilt Blood Cathedral. It was built on this specific location because it was where Alexander II life was taken in 1881. Located on the Griboyedov Canal its foundation was laid in 1883, and construction lasted twenty four years when it was consecrated in 1907. Today it has once again been given back to believers.
The entire scene is drawn over a piece of golden foil that shines brightly with yellow and blue undertones. The scene is framed with a wide gold band. The wide gold ornament also wraps around the edges of the lid.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to complete the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the village of Fedoskino.
Fine work!
