This exquisite box is a creation of talented Oleg Golovchonkov from the village of Fedoskino. Lewis Carroll's classic tale "Alice in Wonderland" has been chosen as a theme for the work. The artist has managed to express vividly the fantastic atmosphere of the tale. The expanses of Wonderland that look an ordinary chess board disappear behind the horizon. The deep blue night sky is covered with twinkling stars. The playing cards are floating in the air like the fallen leaves. Alice and the White Rabbit are starring at each other as if they are having a mute conversation.
The scene is framed with a gold line; the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
