This interesting work is a creation of Golovchonkov from the village of Fedoskino. The box depicts the Child Jesus blessing mankind and showing people the way to God. The Child Jesus represents Jesus from his birth to age twelve. At thirteen he was considered to be adult, in accordance with the Jewish custom of his time. The Child Jesus is frequently depicted in art, from around the third or fourth century onwards, in icons and paintings, sculpture, and all the media available.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The scene is framed with a gold line while the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
