This exquisite portrait of a merchant's daughter, by Sergey Fomichyov of Fedoskino is an incredible miniature! He has combined brilliant skill in shading, color, texturing, and luminescence with an amazing gift for realism. This piece is a fine work of art, from top to bottom!
To paint the work the artist has used a beautiful brown palette. Gold paint creates the brilliance of the girl's sarafan.
The portrait is framed with a nice gold pattern accented with white oil paints. The similar pattern can be found decorating the box's sides. The box's sides are also decorated with a wide crimson ribbon highlighted with gold and silver powder.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box. The red lacquered interior is outlined with black paint as an original ornamentation. The lid is hinged from the left of the portrait, and the box rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name, and the year of 2006.
