Yevgeniy Dokuchaev is the talented portrait painter and brilliant lacquer miniature artist. In his works he tries to paint correctly and realistically individual features of his characters, and also to express their psychology and mood.
Here the artist depicted an old man sitting in the chair. His face is wise and sad a little bit. He lived a long life, and experienced both happiness and misfortune. This experience is reflected on his wrinkled face.
The old man's figure is painted against the dark brown background that tones with his dark red clothes.
The portrait is framed with a gold line, as well as another gold line is wrapping around the box's sides.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box has a hinge from the left of the portrait, and rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name.
