This box has been painted by a talented artist Otryaskin Alexey from the village of Fedoskino. It shows the famous St. Basil's Cathedral located on the Red Square and Kremlin cathedrals on the back. St. Basil's cathedral has the second name- the Pokrovsky Cathedral.
The color palette reflects the winter season and the realistic view of the cathedral. Mother-of-pearl shines through the skies. Gold paint is used to highlight the domes and crosses of the cathedral.
The scene is framed with a brown line. Gold lines decorate the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Dark blue lacquer mixed with a silver powder is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box.
