This gorgeous piece of authentic Russian artistry was created by well established Fedoskino miniaturist Tatyana Tipyakova. She has mastered the ability to create breath taking landscapes!
In this work Tipyakova has tried to express beauty of a summer night during the thunderstorm. Flashes of electric lightning illuminate the picturesque banks of a small river and a village. This beautiful effect has been achieved with the help of the color contrast between dark brown and yellow-orange tones. Gold paint is used to create a light effect in the windows of the church and the peasant houses.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The scene is outlined with gold, and two parallel gold lines can be found wrapping around the box's sides. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title ("The element") and the year 2008.
