Sergey Kirsanov from the village of Fedoskino is known as a talented landscape painter. Being enchanted with the beauty of Russian nature in winter, he created a series of works painted on this theme. Each of them is perceptively and realistically painted showing a peculiar charm of Russian countryside. This work continues this series, and depicts a small Russian village in winter.
Gray and light blue tones suitable for the reproduction of winter dullness predominate here. Mother-of-pearl is set into the sky to create a golden glow of the sunset.
The scene is framed with a gold line. Two parallel gold lines are decorated the sides of the box.The box's exterior is covered with black lacquer; the interior is traditionally red.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The box has a hinge from the top of the composition, and rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name.
