Description:

Well-known Fedoskino artist Sergey Parmeonov is responsible for this work showing probably the best known Moscow monument- St.Basils Cathedral on the Red Square.
Another name of this Cathedral is Pokrovsky Cathedral. The Cathedral, which was commissioned by Ivan IV (also known as Ivan the Terrible) in Moscow to commemorate the capture of the Khanate of Kazan. In 1588 Tsar Fedor Ivanovich had a chapel added on the eastern side above the grave of Basil Fool for Christ (yurodivy Vasily Blazhenny), a Russian Orthodox saint after whom the cathedral was popularly named.
A wide range of bright oils has been used by the artist to paint this work. Gold paint highlights the pavement, the cupolas of the St.Basil's Cathedral and some trees. The correctness of drawing gives exceptional depth!
A piece of mother-of-pearl can be found in the middle of the composition- in the walls of the Cathedral, which add the additional attraction and glow to this painting.
The box's exterior is covered with a black color, while the interior is traditionally red.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name, and the name of the school- Fedoskino.
