This charming winter scene was painted by a talented Fedoskino artist, Boris Shavirin.
Being enchanted with the beauty of Russian nature in winter, Shavirin created a series of works painted on this theme. Each of them is perceptively and realistically painted showing a peculiar charm of Russian countryside. This work continues this series, and depicts a small Russian village in winter. Gray and light blue tones suitable for the reproduction of winter dullness predominate here.
On the front we can see a small river , covered with the first ice. On the background, there is a small village with wooden houses, covered with a snow and a church.
The box exterior's sides imitates the coloring of blue marble (tiny black veins are scattered against the light blue background). The interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer.
The box is constructed of paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, and the year of 2015.
