This luxuriant box has been created by Igor Isaev from the village of Fedoskino. The box is designed and decorated in original manner, and looks absolutely fantastic! A large oval piece of unbroken mother-of-pearl is set into the middle of the lid; the artist has used its shining pearl surface to fill it with brilliantly drawn painting. The scene shows the Russian countryside, and the girl observing a couple of birds pecking the sunflower seeds. Gold and silver paints are used to highlight the scene painted in oils.
The scene, the edges of the lid, and the edges of the bottom part of the box's body are adorned with wide gold bands. Gold paint is also used to cover most of the box's rear side. The box's exterior is covered with light green paint mixed with gold powder, and decorated with the delicately painted images of leaves of various trees. The box's interior is covered with red paint mixed with silver powder, and also adorned with the images of leaves of various trees. On the lid's interior the area where the oval piece of mother-of-pearl is set, is left unpainted (it is clearly shown on one of the enlarged photos).
The box is made out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name, the title ("Sunflowers"), and the village of Fedoskino on the lid's interior.
