This brilliant Mstera work was created by I. Favarisova. It shows St. George killing the Dragon. Since old times this image has been the symbol of good winning over evil. St. George was the Christian who didn't deny his faith and was executed by the order of a Roman Emperor. Since the appearance of the Moscow Principality, St. George was the patron of Moscow princes. Now St. George killing the Dragon is depicted on the coat of arms of Moscow.
The scene is painted in different shades of brown and red. Gold paint details the attire of St. Gerge, his steed's harness, his spear and some elements of the landscape. In the right upper corner of the composition the artist writes in ancient Russian print the title: "St. George's Mirracle".
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The scene is framed with a gold line, whereas the sides of the box are decorated with elaborate gold patterns. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while a brilliant red lacquer completes the interior of the box. A hinge is fastened to the left of the composition. The box rests on a flat bottom. The artist writes her name, the village of Mstera at the bottom of the composition. In addition, Favarisova paints in gold her name on the base of the box, citing the title and Mstera,
