Description:

This beautiful box has been painted by the talented Mstera artist, Panov Alexander who specializes in depicting architecture.
Here the artist has chosen to depict the Cathedral of the Resurrection or more commonly known as the Our Savior on the Split Blood Cathedral. It was built on this specific location because it was where Alexander II life was taken in 1881. Located on the Griboyedov Canal its foundation was laid in 1883, and construction lasted twenty four years when it was consecrated in 1907. Today it has once again been given back to believers.
The scene is framed with a wide gold ornament. Another gold ornament also wraps around the sides of the box.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to complete the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on four small round legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, name of the work and the village of Mstera on the exterior of the bottom.
