This enchanting piece of exquisite Russian artistry was created by talented Palekh master Maria Gurilyeva. Here she has painted the woman that represents Mother Nature. Various shades of green predominate here. Tiny gold and aluminum lines outline and bring animation to the scene.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The exterior is decorated with attractive gold patterns accented on the lid with aluminum. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on three legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, Palekh, and the year of 2006.
