Description:

This celebratory beauty was created through experience. It exemplifies professional craftsmanship. Vladimir Vlezko, represents his village of Palekh in proud fashion with this gorgeous composition in miniature.
Here the artist has painted his version of a Russian wedding celebration. The characters composed have great reason to be as happy as they appear to be. As customary with the Russian wedding day, the servant depicted in the left bottom corner prepares a bride-bed for the newlyweds. Music rules the atmosphere, laughter blares throughout the hall and love bounces off the walls in more ways than one. This is a tantalizing assortment of color and ornamentation.
The scene is painted in bright tempera paints. All of the details have been contoured with bright gold paint. Aluminum is also used here but in minimal amounts.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer competes the interior of the work. The exterior is decorated with intricate gold ornaments; on the sides these ornaments are accented with aluminum. A hinge has been fastened to the top of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Palekh, and the year of 2008.
