This quit small round box was painted in 1951 by Palekh artist Bakhirev Arkadiy.
It shows an ancient warrior, sit on a horse and looking forwardto the hills and fields, waiting for visitors or enemy.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The edges of the lid and its sides are decorated with the gold patterns. The exterior of the box is painted with black lacquer while the interior is completed with red lacquer.
The lid is not hinged and the box rests flat. The work is signed with the artists name, number of a box #6745, date (1951) and village of Palekh.
On the exterior of the box's base we can find a sign, that the box was made in the Soviet Union painted in gold.
