This humorous composition has been painted by the experienced Palekh painter, Nina Bogachova. Bogachova currently resides in Palekh, as a well-established artist.
The box is painted on the theme of short poetry, written by the artist under the composition:
How on the thin ice, felt a white snow...
Winter frost has come so quickly, that a village fellow didn't expect, so it was very slippery on a an ice that, was covered with a fresh snow, that he felt.
The scene is painted in bright red and orange tempera paints with addition of greens and blues. The details are enhanced tremendously by the golden paint.
The composition is framed with golden dots while the box's sides are adorned with complex gold leafy patterns.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The exterior of the box is painted with black lacquer while the interior is completed with dark red lacquer. A hinge is fastened to the top of the composition and the box rests on four legs. At the bottom of the composition the artist has painted her name, Palekh, the year of 2017 and the poetry.
