This attractive box was created by the talented Oleg Yastrebov of Fedoskino. His works are always easily recognizable as this artist has a peculiar painting style, and invents interesting themes for his works.
The box is called “Fellow Travellers”, and shows a boy and a girl walking through the moonlit park. Blue, grey and brown tones dominate here. The entire scene is painted over silver metal powder that shines beautifully through the oils. Some areas are highlighted with gold powder. The enigmatic atmosphere of the depicted scene is strengthened by sparkling blue, green, violet and orange spangles dissipated throughout the composition.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's personal signature, Fedoskino, the title and the year of 2008.
