This beautiful summer landscape with the Monastery of the Savior and St. Euthymius surrounded by the massive defensive wall has been created by Nataliya Gogina. This monastery is a major spiritual center of Orthodox enlightenment and before the Revolution boasted one of the best bell foundries and best bell-casters in Russia. The palette dominated by various shades of green oils reflects the depicted season.
The box's sides are decorated with gold scan patterns composed of tiny beads and rhombs hand punched from gold metal sheets and then painstakingly affixed by hand to the box.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on four rounded feet. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, and the year of 2006 on the box's exterior bottom.
