This elegantly shaped box is a creation of Shavirin Boris from the village of Fedoskino. Here the artist has chosen to depict the beautiful view of the motor ship "Griboyedov" (named after the famous Russian writer) drifting down Volga River. The snowy white ship looks dramatically painted against the dark blue river and the light blue sky.
The edges of the lid are adorned with a nice gold pattern, while more complex gold design can be found wrapping around the box's sides. The box's exterior imitates a stone color (light blue veins and blurry spots are scattered against the dark blue background). The interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, and the year of the box's completion.
