This is a plate that can be hung on the wall by means of two metal loops. It shows the traditional theme of a Russian winter troika. The peasants sit in the sledge loaded with hay, and pulled by speeding slender steeds.
The troika is painted in bright brown, red and orange oils whereas the surrounding landscape is painted in silver paint that helps to reproduce a shimmer of the snow covered expanses.
The plate is constructed from paper-mache, and covered with black lacquer. The work is signed with the artist's name (Marshanova N.), Fedoskino, and the date of completion being 1977. The plaque is in very good condition for it's years.
