This beautiful box has been painted by a talented Fedoskino artist, Yuriy Mikhalyov who specializes in depicting architecture scenes.The piece continues his series of works dedicated the picturesque views of old Russian towns.
Here the artist has chosen an old Russian Church and he paints it in mono-chromic style.
The scene is framed with a gold band. The sides of the box are decorated with a nice tartan pattern drawn in gold paints.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to complete the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the village of Fedoskino and date 07 (2007).
