Description: This box has been painted by a talented artist Otryaskin Alexey from the village of Fedoskino. It shows the famous St. Basil's Cathedral located on the Red Square and Kremlin cathedrals on the back. St. Basil's cathedral has the second name- the Pokrovsky Cathedral.
The color palette reflects the winter season and the realistic view of the cathedral. Gold paint is used to highlight the domes and crosses of the cathedral. Several pieces of mother-of-pearl are shines through the skies .
The scene is framed with a golden ornament which goes on the edge of the lid. Gold ornamentation decorates the box's sides. The box is constructed from paper-mache. Brown lacquer mixed with a silver powder is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests flat. The work is signed with the artist name, Fedoskino and title "Moscow. A view to the Red Square".
