Description: Here we would like to represent you a female portrait, which kept in Tretiakov Gallery of Moscow. This lacquered box was painted in Fedoskino by artist Nikolay Belov.
Portrait of Elena Alexandrovna Naryshkina (1785-1855) is one of the best female portraits painted by Borovikovsky at the end of the XVIII century. Naryshkina is the daughter of the chief Chamberlain A.L.Naryshkin. In her first marriage, she was married to the son of Generalissimo A.V.Suvorov, Count A.A.Suvorov-Rymniksky; after being widowed, she remarried Prince V.S.Golitsyn. E.A.Naryshkin had good musical abilities. The Italian composer J. Rossini wrote a cantata in her honor. The artist depicted a still young charming girl looking at the viewer with a languid smile. The heroine is dressed in an exquisitely modest dress, curls carelessly scattered over her shoulders. In the portrait, the influence of the aesthetics of late classicism is felt - a clear drawing, certainty of contours, color, tending to local colors.
The painting is framed with a gold scroll feligree. The sides are decorated with similar pattern.
The box is made out of paper-mache.The exterior is black, the interior of the box is red.
The box is signed on the interior of the lid with the artist's name, Naryshkina and Fedoskino.
