Description: This impressive view of the Moscow Red Square has been painted by Alexey Puchkov, one of the best modern Fedoskino painters who specializes in the genre of architecture. Alexey inherited the talent of an artist from his father, Piotr Puchkov, an outstanding Fedoskino painter who died in 2000. Alexey's works are exhibited in the All-Russia Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art.
The beautiful panorama opens up before the viewer's eyes. In the foreground the artist has painted the Red Square, the St. Basil's Cathedral, and the white stoned cathedrals of the Moscow Kremlin encompassed by the red-bricked wall. In the background of the composition we can see the Historical Museum at the Red Square and some of Stalin's skyscrapers.
White, grey, and light red tones of oils help the artist to reproduce the atmosphere of a dull winter day. Gold paint is used to detail the architecture, and to create a sparkle of the domes of the cathedrals.
A piece of mother-of-pearl shines through the walls and coupalas of the St. Basil's Cathedral.
The scene is framed with a floral golden ornament; more complex golden floral ornamentation wraps around the box's sides.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests flat. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2020.
