Description: This attractive box featuring a scene from Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale "Ognivo" was painted by Lavrenkova Nataliya from the village of Fedoskino.
The tale tells about the advantures of a soldier who met old granny, who asked him to get her a flint from the hollow tree. The soldier has got the money from this hollow and flint for granny, but then decide to keep the flint. The flint was magical, and helped him in his advantures.
When the soldier start to get fire with the flint different big dogs appeared and helps the soldier as the servants. In the end the soldier has married (of course!) a daughter of a King!
The scene is brilliantly painted in the realistic style. It is framed with a gold line, the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines. The exterior of the box is painted with black lacquer. The interior is traditionally red.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. It has a hinge from the top of the scene, and the box rests on four small legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, title- Ognivo and the village of Fedoskino'05 (which is 2005 year).
