Description: This beautiful piece of genuine Russian artistry was composed by Irina Turbenyova from the village of Fedoskino.
Here the artist has painted a scene from the children's classic tale of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs".
In the left side Turbeneova has depicted the wicked Queen, the stepmother of Snow White. She looks at her magic mirror and asks if she is the most beautiful woman in the kingdom. The mirror again and again repeats her that not she but Snow White is the most beautiful woman. The furious Queen sends once more her servant to kill Snow White. Meanwhile Snow White lives in the forest in the house of seven dwarfs. The central scene shows her laying supper, and all seven dwarfs who are ready to taste the food. In the right upper corner the Prince rides through the forest trying to find his beloved Snow White.
The costumes of the characters are detailed. The scene is beautifully painted in Turbenyova's unique style with a keen eye for detail and expression.
The box's exterior is balck and decorated with two parallel gold lines. The box's interior is covered with red lacquer. The box rests on four legs.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the village of Fedoskino.
