Relaxing atmosphere of a quiet evening on the bank of the river is expressed here by the well-established Fedoskino miniaturist Tatiana Tipyakova. The sun is almost disapeared in the gray skies, fresh green meadows are still misted, but the windows of the peasant house are already lit, getting dark.
This divine scene is brilliantly painted. The artist has perfectly reproduced the atmosphere of the evening. The background is painted rather vaguely, while the objects painted in foreground, especially the house, are precisely painted; all this is done to create the depth of the composition and make it look realistic. The river on the background is quite and slow.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while deep red lacquer completes the interior of the box. A hinge is fastened to the top of the composition, and the box rests on wavy platform with eightlegs. The work is NOT signed...
