The work features the picturesque view of Russian countryside in Winter.There is a small wooden house on the right bank of the river, a large hay stack covered with snow is on the left and we can see a wooden boat right in front of us.
The scene is painted in different shades of white, brown and gray. There is infinite texture in the landscape. The structure of the trees and grass stalks are highly elaborate. A piece of mother-of-pearl in-layed in the ice of the river right in the middle of the composition.
The painting is framed with a golden line, and the sides of the box are decorated with two parallel gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while deep red lacquer completes the interior of the box. A hinge is fastened to the top of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed and dated (2016) at the bottom of the composition in gray oils.
