The work features the picturesque view of Russian countryside in Winter.
In the center of the composition we see a wooden village house covered with snow and most likely a bathhouse or a barn.
The house is located on the edge of the forest. The track of the road leads to it. On the left you can see a haystack covered with snow. And the presence of this stack tells us that these villagers have cattle.
The scene is painted in different shades of white, brown and gray. There is infinite texture in the landscape. The structure of the trees and grass stalks are highly elaborate. There is a piece of mother-of-pearl inlayed in the composition! It is in the skies over the forest to the right from the village house.
The painting is framed with a golden line. The sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. A hinge is fastened to the top of the composition, and the box rests flat. The work is signed and dated 2016 at the bottom of the composition.
