This very realistic landscape scene has been painted by well-known Fedsokino artist, Tatyana Tipyakova. The work is called "Donbay", and shows a mountain river with the stream running over the stones and we almost can hear the babbling of the water!
On the background we can see montains of Dombay. Dombai-Ulgen or Dombay (for short) is a 4,046 metres high (13,274 ft) mountain of the Greater Caucasus and the highest point of Abkhazia, a state with limited international recognition otherwise seen to be part of Georgia. It is located on the border with Karachay-Cherkessia, an autonomous Republic of Russia. The top of the mountain is covered by snow and glaciers at all times of the year.
The composition uses different shades of green and also brown and gray colors. The image is very accurate and detailed!
The painting is continued from a lid to the sides of the box and it is framed with a gold line.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The box has a hinge from the top of the scene, and the box rests flat. The work is signed with the name of the artist, the title("Dombay") and the year of 2014.
