This box is a creation of the talented Fedoskino landscape painter, Simonov Alexander.
Here we can see a view of a Russian village located on the bank of river. On the right side we can see a haystack, on the front of the composition- wooden boat, on the left side- there several wooden houses.
The artist has masterfully reflected beauty of Russian countryside in Summer time. Painterly skill creates a dramatic interplay of light and shadows of the trees.
A piece of the mother-of-pearl is inlayed in the skies of the composition.
A scene is outlined with gold lines, two parallel gold lines wrap around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box, while red lacquer completes its interior. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom.
