The splendid portrait of a woman embroidering in gold has been painted by a talented Fedoskino artist.
This is a fine interpretation of a canvas-on-oil painting originally painted by V.A. Tropinin (1776 - 1857). Painted in 1823, this masterpiece is exhibited in the Moscow Tretyakov Gallery.
V.A. Tropinin is one of the greatest masters of Russian portrait genre. He was born in the village of Karporka, the Novgorod Region, in the family of a serf. After receiving freedom, he began his brilliant career as a portraitist. His genre portrait of a woman embroidering in gold painted on this box is very popular in Russia as well as his other masterpieces.
Box made of paper-mache, the hinge is from the left of the composition and the box rests flat. Singed with Fedoskino, year and name of the artist.
The box is semi-antique, means used, but in a good condition.
