This is the reproduction of Konstantin Makovskiy's famous painting, "Children Running From the Storm ".
The original oil-on-canvas one can find in the Tretyakov Gallery. A young girl carrying her little brother is making haste along a country road to get back home. By the looks of what is in the girl's pouch they were out picking mushrooms when the rain clouds started to creep over the land. Once enough mushrooms were picked it was time to get home before getting drenched by the rain, which is why the children look quite desperate and in a hurry.
The palette used is much darker and conveys a gloomier atmosphere than the one found in the original. The utilization of the foliage and plants in the scene to show the strength of the wind is executed very effectively. The ominous clouds in the background work to match the dark water in the stream, which gives the composition a degree of balance.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Bronze oil mixture that imitate the exterior of the box and the interior is covered with red lacquer.
The box has a hinge located to the left of the composition and it rests on a flat bottom.
The work is signed by the artist's name and Fedoskino.
