This elegant oval box is a creation of Margarita Belova who has a reputation of one of the popular contemporary Fedoskino artists. Most of all she likes to paint portraits, scenes from peasant life and romantic scenes.
The box shows a loving couple painted against the beautiful summer landscape. The scene is painted in various shades of light green oils. The costumes of the characters are very much detailed.
The scene is framed with a gold line. Two parallel gold lines are decorating the box's sides. The box's exterior is covered with dark blue viviens painted over the black ; the interior is traditionally red.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene; the box rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name,title- "The Wild Cherry" and the village of Fedoskino. The small add "aut." in front of the name confirms that this box is original artist creation!
