This elegant oval box is a creation of Elena Aldoshkina who has a reputation of one of the popular contemporary Fedoskino artists. Most of all she likes to paint portraits, architecture and romantic scenes.
The box shows a loving couple painted against the large bush of roses. The scene is painted in various shades of soft blues and white oils. The costumes of the characters are very much detailed.
The scene is framed with a rich ornamentation painted in gold. Thick gold line is decorating the box's sides.
The box's exterior is covered with black lacquer; the interior is traditionally red.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene; the box rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name and the village of Fedoskino.
